Retribution?

According to the BBC, Pat Robertson is facing his own retribution, not God's, but Israel's. Israel is angry about Robertson's remarks that Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution. The punishment? "Israel is pulling out of a $50 million deal with US TV evangelist Pat Robertson" The deal was to build a Christian theme park called Galilee World Heritage Park. Anyone remember Jim and Tammy Fae Baker's idea of a Christian Theme Park? It flopped. I think it is time for Pat to retire and spend some time with his family and enjoy the last part of his life after a long and fruitful run.

Off the deep end!

I really think Pat Robertson has gone off the deep end. I pray he would learn to think before he speaks. He is linking Ariel Sharon's stroke with God's wrath for 'Dividing God's Land'. ABC News reports the story here. This is so absurd and does not speak of the loving and compassionate God i follow. A friend of mine and I were talking about it tonight after I saw the story on TV while sitting in the waiting room of Patient First and the story made me feel more sick than my physical symptoms. She said that Sharon was trying to do the right thing and should not be criticized for his efforts. I could not agree more. I am so sick of people like Pat Robertson who lay special claim to the "correct" and "right" interpretation of the Bible. He is a human like the rest of us and is unable to fully understand God's purposes. The Bible is not a play-by-play rule book for every life circumstance. Context is so important and necessary when approaching Scripture.

God, please help me to have the right attitude towards Pat Robertson and others who I think are off their rockers. Help me not to be critical and to act in the opposite spirit. I am human too and react hastily and in poor taste and need to reel it in at times. Forgive me for my arrogance and wayward ways. Show me how not to pervert your ways and your words. Ennable and embolden me to love the unlovable, whether they lay claims to know you or not. Thank you for your much needed forgiveness, grace and love.

Foxman, national director of the group, which fights anti-Semitism. "His remarks are un-Christian and a perversion of religion. Unlike Robertson, we don't see God as cruel and vengeful."
