Cross Over The Bridge

Thankfully i am no longer in a hopeless place nor feeling suicidal. My new med is working so far minus a little bit of lingering depression. i was inspired to face my demon of wanting to commit suicide and show that i can overcome! Suicide is not the answer. Choosing life is the answer i am fighting for as i battle this 'demon' of depression. ( i don't believe in literal demons, but metaphorical ones!)

when my mind thinks of you,

hurt wells up in the deepest recesses of my heart, and

yells out loud, 'stop

doling out your religious platitudes!'

of course it's all you know,

especially

since you don't know me at all.

My head spins and checks out as

you piously

heap your religious attitudes into my

ears

and

run your mouth as 

though you think i'm really

hearing you

unload on me.

rhapsodize if you must,

to feel good about yourself.

such talk is nothing but an

obituary to a religion i know longer

believe in or

ascribe to on this particular

day.

Bourgeois Pigs

we are the middle class, consuming everything we can get our grimy hands on: gadgets, toys, cars, clothes, et al; all the next best thing. we are keeping up with the jones' for sure with all the money we spend to consume.as christians we claim to be missional and follow in the way of Jesus, but we really are nothing more than bourgeois pigs!

can we escape this label, follow in the way of Jesus and still enjoy life? even responsible spending is consuming. we must consume to keep our economy going. so, what's the balance i want to know?

for i myself am a bourgeois pig. i love me my coffee shops, ipod, iphone, camera, books, art work, clothing, bags, shoes, etc.

how do i break free of the label bourgeois pig?
