Trapped

Trapped

tumbling along like a tumbleweed
roving over the sun-drenched desert
acting all angry,
peppered with negativity
peppered with negativity,
expecting the worst
days of my life are
buoyant with unsinkable
yelling.
negative thoughts
engulf,
grabbing me and
agitating my
true self until
i no longer
value the truth.
i'm way
too
young to drown in such negativity.

climbing into his lap and enveloping my arms around his flannel shirt
helped me to feel at home and safe.
resting my head upon his chest, listening to his heart beat and
watching his chest heave up and down, i sat there wishing
to never escape his warm embrace.
